The final matter that was discussed involved tree inventory requirements. Currently, the
ordinance requires ALL trees, regardless of size/species, be inventoried. Staff would like to see a
minimum size required for the purposes of inventorying. Staff has been using four (4) inches or
greater as the standard but believes this should be increased to at least eight (8) inches. A
subcommittee was formed to address this concern. Further discussion may be necessary based on
the findings of the subcommittee.
Recommendation
NA
EPB Action
Based on discussion.
EPB: 12/5/05
CASE # 4
Review of Canopy Cover Formula
By: Chris Anderson, Zoning & Recycling Coordinator
Background:
Staff would like to look at the canopy cover formula and how that has translated into planting
requirements. Staff would like to take this opportunity to review the results of these requirements
and whether the numbers need to be adjusted somewhat. Staff would also like clarification as to
whether wetlands should be included in the pervious area calculation that is used to determine
required canopy cover square footage. This will also provide the new members of the EPB some
insight into these regulations. An explanation of the canopy cover formula has been included as
Exhibit 2.
Recommendation:
NA
EPB Action
Based on discussion
EPB: 12/5/05
CASE # 5
Environmental Expo 2006
