There are ten intersections on this section of
roadway, nine of which are "T" style intersections. All of these intersections are controlled by
stop signs placed on the roads intersecting 153rd Avenue N.W. Also there are two entrances cut
into the curb on the north side of 153rd Avenue N.W., one at Waco Street N.W. and the other at
Yakima Street N.W. Both of these entrances lead into a vacant lot at this time. He advised it
would be Staff's recommendation that the signage remain as is on this section of roadway. This
recommendation is based on the fact that all of the intersections are controlled by stop signs. If
the entrances on the north side, mentioned above, are a source of confusion they could be signed
using 18"x 18" reflectors.

Councilmember Connolly requested that reflector signs be installed at the "T" intersection to
warn drivers on Waco Street who are currently ignoring the signage.

Consensus of the Public Works Committee was to direct staff to install the reflector signs as
discussed.

Chairperson Zimmerman asked about signage at 153rd Avenue N.W. and County Road #56
where a fatality accident recently occurred. He asked that this issue be discussed during the
accident discussion under Committee/Staff Input.

Case #2: Consider Placement of 2000 Priority Street Lights

City Engineer Jankowski noted that since 1992, the City of Ramsey has been operating a Street
Lighting System. He explained that since the budget of last year was overspent by installing 18
lights, he would recommend the installation of 13 lights in Year 2000. City Engineer Jankowski
presented the Priority Street Lighting System which is comprised of street lights located along

Public Works Committee/July 18, 2000
