· A regular newsletter is distributed to community leaders identifying economic growth opportunities and Partners' successes. Competition Currently many cities located within the county employ economic development professionals. Those same cities compete directly with each other for new businesses and existing business relocations. Many times that competition results in projects being lost to another county or even another region of the country. Private developers and realtors maintain much of the same type of structure and activities as the Partners. State agencies also participate in economic development activities, many times creating competitive disadvantages for the cities and towns of Anoka County. Market Analysis A recent survey212] sponsored by the Partners and conducted by Anoka Technical College, recorded strong support and identified the need for the continued existence of this organization. However, past performance of this organization did not meet the needs of the community or the expectations of those polled. That led to the current restructuring plans and activities. Future energies and resources will be directed in the areas identified in this plan. Participants in the Partners will be representatives of the following categories that meet the financial obligation of membership: · Anoka County Government · Cities within Anoka County · Townships within Anoka County · Utilities providing service to businesses within Anoka County · Post secondary schools located within Anoka County · Banks serving customers in Anoka County · Chambers of Commerce located within Anoka County · Businesses with headquarters or major business operations located within Anoka County 2121 Appendix 2 includes the survey results.
