Case #1

Consider Membership in Anoka County Economic Development Partnership
DBA Anoka County Partners

Sean M. Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

At the Business Connection Meeting on January 26th David Piggott, the Executive Director of
Anoka County Partners spoke to our area businesses. The message about unification of cities
within the Anoka County to work together resonated. The creation of Anoka County Partners
will help Anoka County improve its image as well as create an open forum for participating
cities to discuss important issues. The example used in his presentation of a large company
trying to find a location in another Anoka County city and then leaving to another county was
very unfortunate. If cities had communicated with each other they might have been able to
satisfy the greater good of Anoka County and found another location for that business in Anoka
County. The Partnership intends on creating that channel of communication as well as providing
a forum to initiate activity that will help market Anoka County as well as improve its image.
Attached is the business plan for Anoka County Parmers and the attached Fee Schedule for
membership. David Piggott will be present to answer any question you may have.

Recommendation:

Pay membership dues of $10,020.00 to become a member of Anoka County Economic
Development Partnership DBA Anoka County Partners

EDA Action:

Motion to authorize payment of $10,020.00 to Anoka County Economic Development
Partnership DBA Anoka County Parmers

EDA: 02.08.06

7
