Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen to authorize the City <br />Attorney to proceed with condemnation proceedings in the event that further negotiations fail in <br />the acquisition of the property west of Sunfish Lake Boulevard and south of County Road #116. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, and <br />Connolly. Voting No: Councilmember Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated he opposed because he felt the School District is losing <br />money here. Mayor Gamec explained that the School District is reimbursed per pupil; the only <br />loser here is the County. Councilmember Zimmerman stated he is agreeable with utilizing <br />vacant land but was still opposed to acquiring developed land for development purposes. <br /> <br />Case #14: Report from the Personnel Committee <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Consider Ending Probation Period of Public Works Maintenance Worker Brian <br />Swanson <br /> <br />Councihnember Anderson stated that the Director of Public Works, the Parks/Utilities <br />Supetwisor and the Public Works Supervisor are all in agreement that Brian Swanson's <br />performance is satisfactory and they recommend to end his probationary period. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Anderson and seconded by Councilmember Connolly to adopt <br />Resolution #00-03-060 ending Brian Swanson's probationary period effective March 15, 2000. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Connolly, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Authorization of Hiring a New Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that a panel interviewed the finalists for the position of Patrol <br />Officer and recommended hiring Jeffrey Katers. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Anderson and seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen to hire <br />Jeffrey Katers for the position of Patrol Officer at a salary in compliance with the labor <br />agreement. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Hendriksen, Connolly, <br />and Zimmerman.
