This comer is an
elementary school bus stop. Ms. Fischer has stated there is not a lot of traffic, but it is fast
traffic, and if the traffic is forced to stop one way, it could prevent an accident. The Public
Works Committee recommended this concern be forwarded to public safety and that we put a
speed limit trailer out there and have the Police monitor this more and that the neighborhood get
involved in calling in speeders.

Motion by Councilmember Cook and seconded by Councilmember Olson to ratify the
recommendation of the Public works Committee that the existing signage at the intersection of
Marmoset and 154th Lane is appropriate and that no change will take place in the signage.

Motion carried. The County wants to see it gone, the City wants to see
it gone, and it will be gone. No action is required.

4) Consider Storm Sewer Improvements at 168th and T.H. #47

Councilmember Cook stated this came up because during a recent rain storm there were
problems with this drainage ditch flooding while going through the golf course. The culvert on
the east side of the course is not handling water. The Public Works Committee directed staff to
do a study to see what can be done to improve this situation. That will take some more time.
There is no action required and the study will be done in-house.

5) Project Closeout of T.H. #47 Improvement Project

Civil Engineer II Linton stated that presently there are two pay estimates that need to be
processed in order to finalize this T.H. #47 improvement project which was done in 2000 and
2001. He explained that the work associated with this project was separated into three individual
projects, each with subcategories for road and storm sewer improvements, plus an additional
designation for City water and sewer improvements. The first five project categories have an
80% federal reimbursement and the Sunwood Drive storm sewer, payment group 6, is being
reimbursed 44%. The total payment to the contractor will be $39,171.07. The City share of this
amount will be $15,841.24 with $9,942.18 of this amount attributable to the sewer and water
trunk fund. The remaining $5,899.06 would be taken from the Public Improvement revolving

City Council/November 7, 2005
