3) Organizational Study <br /> <br />Bill Joynes, Springsted, Inc., stated based on the last time Springsted met with the Council, there <br />were two common themes expressed by the Council. These were to maintain a close relationship <br />and a personal touch with residents, as well as the need for improved communication. Other <br />topics raised had to do with the different issues and services the City provides and how to <br />provide those services in a cost efficient way. Transportation seems to be the number one issue <br />in every community. <br /> <br />The following responses were given to questions asked by Mr. Joynes <br /> <br />What is your impression of what the City of Ramsey should look and feel like in terms of service <br />levels in the next 20 years and what cities should Ramsey compare itself to that fit those <br />impressions? <br /> <br /> Combination of success stories of other cities; blending together the better features and <br /> eliminating mistakes of other cities. Ramsey will he unique. <br />· Good features of Maple Grove, such as a trail system, developed park system, community <br /> center, variety of housing, and a good tax base with the commercial structure. <br />· City structure as seamless and almost invisible <br /> <br />What are the elements in your mind of reshaping the City? <br /> <br />· Good blend of urban and rural <br />· Multi-generational sense of community; sense of identity <br />· Raised architectural standards <br />· Gathering places for residents <br />· Approachable, unique, small town feel, creative, upscale <br />· Incorporation of the large demographics in Ramsey involved in hunting, fishing, and the <br /> outdoors <br />· Parks and trails <br />· Neighborhoods <br /> <br />Inclusive of all City departments, what does the City of Ramsey do well right now? <br /> <br />· Fire, Police, and Public Works Departments <br />· Quality staff, <br />· Park and trail system <br />· Youth athletics and improved condition of fields <br />· Neighborhoods coming together with events like National Night Out <br />· Ramsey should create and market the uniqueness that is being strived for, being proactive <br /> in bringing residents to the community <br /> <br />Are there any services that the City of Ramsey should be providing, but is not at the present? <br /> <br />Technology infrastructure <br /> <br /> City Council Work Session /January 31, 2006 <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
