3) Park Tour Dates

City Administrator Norman stated that the Park Commission had invited the City Council on a
park tour on either June 19t~' or June 26t~, but both dates are in conflict with the City Council's
summer meeting schedule so he will go back to the Park Commission for another date.

4) Schedule Work Session

City Administrator Norman requested that a work session be scheduled following the Public
Works Committee on June 20th, but it was noted that the City Council is to meet with the Dayton
City Council on the same date.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the meeting with Dayton is a high priority and the Public
Works Committee should be rescheduled if necessary.

5) Consider a Resolution Transferring Funds for a Community Celebration

Councilmember Anderson stated that the City should have a formal proposal from a group or at
least know more specifics before City dollars are distributed.

Mayor Gamec replied that a group of residents have come together to organize the Community
Celebration and needs a commitment of money from the City in order to hire a band.

City Administrator Norman stated that the disbursement of funds should be contingent on the
formation of a committee.

Councilmember Anderson stated that she would like more specifics before committing the
money, like who is on the committee and what and when are they planning. She recommended
transferring the money in gesture of support but get more facts before any group receives the
funds.

Councilmember Hendriksen requested that staff research how other cities handle these events.

Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to approve
Resolution #00-06-155, authorizing the transfer of $5,000 from the budget of the Council
Contingency to the budget of the Mayor and Council for the purpose of funding this year's
celebration, contingent upon a formation of a committee.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, and
Connolly. Voting No: None.

City Council/June 13, 2000
