Case #7: Report from Public Works Committee

1) Signage on 153r'~ Avenue NW East of T.H. #47

Councilmember Zimmerman stated that it was the consensus of the Committee that the two
intersections on the north side of 153rd Avenue NW which have existing curb cut for future roads
(Xkimo Street NW and Waco Street NW) be signed using 18' x 18' reflective diamond signs.

2) Consider Placement of 2000 Priority Street Lights

Councihnember Zimmerman stated that staff presented a map identifying 13 locations proposed
for installation of Priority Street Lights for the year 2000. The Committee recommended
proceeding with the installation of lights at these locations.

Motion by Councilmember Connolly, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to ratify the
Public Works Committee's recommendation to approve Priority Street Lights locations for
installation included in the Year 2000 budget as presented by staff.

Motion carried. Parcels 4, 5, 6, and 7 have provided no response or a negative
response to the City's easements offer. Parcels 2 and 3 are expected to be settled without
eminent domain proceedings. Parcel 1 has counter offered $1,280 in response to a City offer of
$555. The action of the Committee was to contact Inner City Oil (parcel 1) and advise them that
the City is about to order an appraisal and in the intervening time, they can benefit by the value
of the appraisal ($500 plus the $555 offer amount). However, they need to decide before the
appraisal is ordered. The action was also to recommend that formal appraisals be obtained on
Parcels 4, 5, 6, and 7, and that eminent domain papers be filed by the City Attorney with the
court.

Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to ratify the
recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Motion carried.
