contractors have been contacted about finishing the duct work but, to date, have had no <br />responses. Merrill Dykema of AAA Handyman Service, Inc., responded to the City's request for <br />interior finishing work. Mr. Dykema agreed to provide an estimate to the City for the interior <br />finish work. Staff provided a list of unfinished interior items as listed in the July 26, 2000 <br />completion report compiled by KKE, (i.e. installation of the wainscoting and chair rail; <br />installation of interior and front doors; ceramic tiling and installation of bathroom sink and <br />commode; and painting). Despite several attempts to contact Mr. Dykema, staff has not received <br />a response. As such, staff is trying to contact other repair service businesses that may be <br />interested in working on the Old Town Hall project. Staff also continues to search for a <br />contractor to finish the HVAC work. Staff has received three estimates for tuckpointing or <br />exterior brick repair from the following vendors: <br /> <br /> Bidder Amount of Bid <br />· James Stenquist $20,000 <br />· Macpherson-Towne Co. $23,175 <br />· Building Restoration $29,494 <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Mayor Gamec, to accept the estimate for <br />tuckpointing of the Old Town Hall from James Stenquist in the amount of $20,000. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, and <br />Connolly. Voting No: Councilmember Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #9: <br /> <br />Receive Bids and Award Contracts for the Construction of 143r~ Avenue NW <br />between Jaspar Street and C.R. #116 <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated that there are four parcels involved with this project. Amcor has <br />signed a purchase agreement with the City, Altron has already signed the appropriate papers, the <br />Maken parcel - the City has negotiated to acquire the entire parcel, and the City already owns <br />Outlot A. The City will receive access on the Maken property on December 1, 2000, and the <br />property owner is willing to sign a right-of-access agreement on the smaller parcel with. a <br />guarantee from the City that they will be moving forward with the entire acquisition of the <br />property. The City Administrator sent a letter to the Maken property owners indicating that the <br />City will be moving forward with the entire acquisition of the property. <br /> <br />Motion by Councillnember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to approve <br />Resolution #00-10-283 awarding Project #00-21, 143~d Avenue NW Street and Utility <br />Construction to the lowest responsible bidder, Erickson Construction, Inc., subject to City <br />Attorney approval that the City does have legal access to all parcels. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
