Case #7: Proposed Amendment to Tower Ordinance <br /> <br />Theresa Greenfield, McCombs, Frank, Roos, and Associates, stated that, per the City Council's <br />request, the Planning Commission has been working with Meg McMonigal and herself to review <br />the City's regulations for commercial towers. As a result of their efforts, the following is a <br />description of the proposed changes to the tower regulations: <br /> <br /> Restrict commercial towers on residential property to parcels at least ten acres in size that are <br /> located in an area to be identified as a Tower Overlay District <br /> Restrict all other towers in the Residential district, generally, to church, park, government, <br /> school, utility, and institutional sites at least ten acres in size. <br />· Establish a tower setback fi'om adjacent residential dwellings equal to 1.5 times the height of <br /> the tower. <br />· Increasing the tower height in residential zones from 75 feet to 120 feet (designed for at least <br /> three antennas). <br />· Co-location radius was increased from V2 mile to one mile. <br />· Private antennas were increased from 50 feet to sixty feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the consultant disagreed with any of the changes. <br /> <br />Ms. Greenfield replied no, explaining that all of the changes were a result of meetings throughout <br />the summer. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if the setback requirements were to avoid the tower from <br />falling onto the building. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik replied no, explaining that the monopole collapse upon <br />themselves. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to introduce <br />the ordinance to amend the City regulations for commercial towers. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Zimmerman, <br />Anderson, and Connolly. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #8: Review and Authorize Staff to Accept Bids for the Old Town Hall <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that on June 27, 2000, the City Council authorized staff to <br />schedule and work with individual contractors to complete the renovation of the Old Town Hall. <br />Since then, staff has worked to provide Council with a list of interested contractors for this <br />project: several local repair services were contacted to finish the interior; tuckpointing <br />contractors were asked to provide estimates for repairing the brick exterior; and HVAC <br /> <br />City Council/October 24, 2000 <br /> Page 21 of 31 <br /> <br /> <br />
