Mayor Gamec stated that he appreciates the compliments, but noted that it is election time and <br />requested that her comments be limited. <br /> <br />Ms. Henke stated that she only wanted to say that the Council deserved a compliment. <br /> <br />Jim Wendt, 8500 - 173rd Avenue NW, Ramsey, stated that he was inquiring as to when the <br />Council felt that the four in forty requirement will be lifted in the City. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen stated that the four in forty requirement is a requirement of the Met <br />Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Wendt inquired if they felt that the Met Council would not agree to lifting the requirement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that over the last 10 years the City felt that they were meeting <br />the demands of the Met Council, but the Met Council did not think so and for that reason, they <br />"shut the City down." He stated that unfortunately, the City has limitations, but he does not <br />agree with a lot of things that the Met Council is demanding. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmerman suggested that he talk to the Community Development Department <br />regarding the issue. . <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik stated that she has talked with Mr. Wendt regarding <br />the issue and he was questioning if the Council would have any inclination if the four in forty <br />requirement would be abolished. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that there is a movement in several communities to remove the four in forty <br />requirement. The Met Council is beginning to receive a lot of pressure regarding the issue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly stated that she has empathy for Mr. Wendt's situation and wished that <br />the Council could give him a definite answer. <br /> <br />Mr. Wendt stated that the land is not farmable anymore and yet he is unable to sell the property. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen requested that staff give him the number to Natalie Haas Steffen <br />who is the City's representative at the Met Council.. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen requested that Case #12b be added to discuss the Cable Franchise. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to approve <br />the agenda as amended. <br /> <br />City Council/October 24, 2000 <br /> Page 5 of 31 <br /> <br /> <br />
