Mayor Gamec noted that Morton's Nursery and Wirz's Nursery donated trees and shrubs for the
project. He also noted that the group has committed to assist the City with the beautification of
the T.H. #47 corridor.

CITIZEN INPUT

Roberta Mathisen, 14970 Waco Street NW, Ramsey, stated that she had sent a letter to the City
Council regarding safety concerns between 149th Avenue and 150th Avenue along Waco Street.
She explained that along that area of road there are 33 children and two daycares. The residents
have tried to deal with the situation themselves, but ended up having a some uncomfortable
confrontations so they requested that the police assist with the problem. The problem has to do
with speeding traffic, the restricted view at one of the intersections and the wide openness of the
road. She also noted that there is a bike path at one of the intersections that comes down a hill
and there is no painting in the road indicating there is a path. Ms. Mathisen stated that she does
not like her kids playing in the front yard because she is concerned for their safety. She pointed
out that Waco Street is 1-½ miles long without a stop sign. Many of the residents in the area try
to avoid using T.H. #47 and end up using Waco Street. She stated that the residents are looking
for solutions to make the traffic slow down.

Councilmember Zimmerman suggested that the residents attend the Public Works Committee
meeting to further discuss the issue.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he did go out and view the intersections and at 150th
Avenue, there is a bike path and at 149th Avenue, there is a bus stop. His initial opinion would be
that a stop sign would be more appropriate at 150th Avenue, but would like the issue discussed
further at the Public Works Committee.

Mayor Gamec stated that they will have the issue put on the November 21st Public Works
Committee meeting agenda. He stated that the cut through traffic through Rivers Bend Shopping
Center has been getting increasingly higher and the amount of accidents have increased along
C.R. #116 as people are turning into the center. There have been discussions about extending the
median on C.R. #116 to the bridge to eliminate the cut through traffic.

Marguerite Henke, 14311 Armstrong Boulevard, Ramsey, stated that she watched a previous
Council meeting and felt that the City Council took a lot of heat, but noted that the Council made
the time to make sure that everyone was heard. She stated that she has lived in Ramsey for many
years and has seen many different Councils. In the past when she addressed Councilmembers,
she felt that she wasting her time, but many of the present Councilmembers have made her
change her mind. Ms. Henke stated that she feels that the present Council does hear citizens
concerns. She has seen the Council stand up to regional and state agencies when they felt what
these agencies were requesting were not in the best interest of the City.

City Council/October 24, 2000
