pollutant or contaminants to protect the public health or <br />the environment. "Remedy" or "remedial action" includes, <br />limited to: <br /> <br />welfare of <br />but is not <br /> <br /> (a) Actions at the location of the release such as storage, <br />confinement, perimeter protection using dikes, trenches or <br />ditches, clay cover, neutralization, clean-up of released <br />hazardous substances, pollutants or contaminants, recycling or <br />reuse, diversion, destruction, segregation or reactive wastes, <br />dredging or excavations, repair or replacement of leaking <br />containers, collection of leachate or run-off, on-site treatment <br />of incineration, provision of alternative water supplies and <br />any monitoring and maintenance reasonably required to assure that <br />these actions protect the public health and welfare and the <br />environment; <br /> <br />(b) Assuming the cost of permanent relocation of residents and <br />businesses and community facilities when alone or in combination <br />with other measures relocation is more cost effective than and <br />environmentally preferable to the transportation, storage, <br />treatment, destruction or secure disposition off-site of <br />hazardous substances, pollutants or contaminants, or may <br />otherwise be necessary to protect the public health or welfare. <br /> <br /> 3.8.5. "Remove" or "removal" means: The clean-up or removal of <br />released hazardous substances, pollutants or contaminants, from the <br />environment; or necessary actions taken in the event of a threatened <br />release of hazardous environment; or actions necessary to monitor, <br />assess and evaluate a release or threatened release of hazardous <br />substances, pollutants or contaminants; or disposal or processing of <br />removed material; or their actions necessa.'-y ~o prevent, minimize or <br />mitigate damage to the public health or welfare or to the environment, <br />which may otherwise result from a release or threatened release. <br />"Remove" or .e.~ova_ includes, but is not limited to, security <br />fencing or other measures to limit access, provision cf <br />~ater su~D!ies, temporary evacuation and housing <br />individuals ncu otherwise provided for, acuion taken pursuant to the <br /> · ~-="~ under 42 U.S.C.
