Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #06-02-xx <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING BIDDING FOR THE NEW PARK <br /> SHELTER AT CENTRAL PARK <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Lions Club has been working with the City regarding the <br />replacement of the Park Shelter at Central Park and has donated $185,000.00 towards the cost of <br />the project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Hakanson Anderson & Associates has donated the civil engineering work <br />required for the project and Ramsey Lions member Al Humer and Adkins Association Inc. <br />architects have donated the schematic design work for the project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, staff and Ramsey Lions representatives have been working with Adkins <br />Associations Inc. on the plans, specifications, and bid package for the project as approved by <br />Council at their regular meeting on June 28th, 2005 and was bid in September 2005; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the bids received on September 9th, 2005 were rejected due to the wide <br />variation of bids received and the amount over estimate; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council directed staff to work with the architects to revise the drawings to <br />provide options to reduce costs and to verify the cost estimate that was performed in August <br />2005; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council has approved the use of Charitable Gambling Funds to fund the <br />additional costs associated with the project above the $185,000.00 donation by the Ramsey <br />Lions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the new Park Shelter will provide a new and improved picnic, concession <br />and community event venue for the residents of this community. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes bidding for the new Park Shelter <br />at Central Park. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />-194- <br /> <br /> <br />
