Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #06-02-xx RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING BIDDING FOR THE NEW PARK SHELTER AT CENTRAL PARK WHEREAS, the Ramsey Lions Club has been working with the City regarding the replacement of the Park Shelter at Central Park and has donated $185,000.00 towards the cost of the project; and WHEREAS, Hakanson Anderson & Associates has donated the civil engineering work required for the project and Ramsey Lions member Al Humer and Adkins Association Inc. architects have donated the schematic design work for the project; and WHEREAS, staff and Ramsey Lions representatives have been working with Adkins Associations Inc. on the plans, specifications, and bid package for the project as approved by Council at their regular meeting on June 28th, 2005 and was bid in September 2005; and WHEREAS, the bids received on September 9th, 2005 were rejected due to the wide variation of bids received and the amount over estimate; and WHEREAS, Council directed staff to work with the architects to revise the drawings to provide options to reduce costs and to verify the cost estimate that was performed in August 2005; and WHEREAS, Council has approved the use of Charitable Gambling Funds to fund the additional costs associated with the project above the $185,000.00 donation by the Ramsey Lions; and WHEREAS, the new Park Shelter will provide a new and improved picnic, concession and community event venue for the residents of this community. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes bidding for the new Park Shelter at Central Park. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: -194-
