The total low <br />bid received is approximately 29% below the engineer's estimate. <br />Both the base bid and the alternate bid include the seal coating of the city hall <br />parking lot and driveway. The base bid for the parking lot and driveway is <br />$1,686.85 and the alternate bid is $2,288.40. <br />The alternate bid calls for a crushed igneous rock aggregate and would provide for <br />greater resistance. However, based on the cost savings in using natural aggregates <br />we recommend the alternate bid be rejected. <br />The low bidder, Allied Blacktop, has satisfactorily completed seal coating projects <br />in the area.
