BUDGET

Mayor Gamec said that he determined that on a $60,000 valued home, at 20
mills, the taxes would be $553.00 in 1981 and taxes in 1980 were $623.00,
therefore, a reduction of $70.00. (See the graph he provided in the agenda.)

Mayor Gamec said he thinks mileage for councilpersons ought to be paid for
going to and from meetings outside the City.

Councilman Reims_un said City Administrator Schnelle said at the last meet-
ing that it costs 40~ per mile to operate a car and Councilman Reimannbe-
lieves that this is high as the individual's car is being used for other
personal driving.

Councilman Sorteberg said he thinks 40~ per mile is too high also.

Councilman Cox said people shouldn't have to serve at an expense to them,
but that since we have a City car this should be used.

Councilman Reimann said he feels it ought to be about 20~ per mile.

Councilman Sorteberg said 30~ per mile. Councilman Cox said this would at
least cover the gas and this is as much as should be covered for Council
members.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to appropriate
20~ per mile for Council persons mileage expended on City business.

Motion carried. Voting yes Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Mickelson,.
Reimann and Cox. Voting no None.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to pay 35~
per mile to staff for mileage when using~ their own auto on City Business.

Motion failed. Voting yes Councilman Reimann. Voting no Mayor Gamec,
Councilmen M_ickelson, Sorteberg and Cox.

Motion by Councilman Sorteberg and seconded by Councilman Cox to pay staff
40~ per mile for using their own auto on City business.

Motion carried. Voting yes Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Mickelson, Sorteberg and
Cox.. Voting no Councilman Reimann.

There was discussion on other budget items.

City Administrator Schnelle recommended that none of the increased budget
items be acted on until the second half taxes are received from the County
in July, 1981.

Mayor Gamec said he feels City Hall remodelinE is a priority because of
potential use'by various groups.

Counc~l~u Cox said that at the recent meeting on November 5, 1980, he felt
the $60,000 expenditure for City Hall remodeling had been dropped. Council-
man Reimann and Sorteberg said that was also their understanding.

C/November 10, 1980
Page 7
