Much has
happened since then,, most notably passage of the Metropolitan
Agricultural Preserves Act..

Recently, the Minnesota Rural Development COuncil asked for our
help in identifying major issues which they could address next
year and thereafter. A copy of this letter is attached.
Since the-Task Force has already discussed-many-rural issues at--
length, and probably has formed new opinions'during the las~-two -
years,, we thought that this would be an excellent opportunity to
get the group together to review our work and, in the jargon of
the Rural Development Council "perform a sorting process which se-
.parates and scopes the issues to a scale of sufficient specificity
to be addressed by the (Rural Development) Council." In other
words, make some good recommendations about what they could do to
help our rural area. Besides, we'd love to see-you-folks again.
Thursday, December 4, 1980, has been set for the meeting. It will
be at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
We need to know whether you can come. Please call Jim Schoettler
at 291-6411 as soon as possible.
I know this is short notice, but the Rural Development Councii
needs the imput by the end of December, and we want them to know
that our rural area is alive and well.
I look forward to seeing all of you on December 4th. Thank you!

Sincerely,

~uncil District 16
Representative' to the Minnesota Rural

JD:vv

De v elopm ent

Council

Enclosure
