Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to direct city <br />staff to prepare resolution directing the County to provide the City with all <br />information regarding the procedures at the landfill. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested going to the County Board and presenting the resolution. <br />Resident Sue Van Wagner said she gave a statement to City Administrator Schnelle <br />regarding Ingrid Ritchie's letter. <br /> <br />The attorney for the landfill residents, Attorney Soucie, said he had seen <br />the full report from Ing~id'Ritchie from the Public Health Depa~ment. <br />He said it is now between two people, Waste Management and himself, because <br />of the possibility of litigation. <br /> Councilman Cox indicated he would sign a statement of what he observed at the <br /> landfill, and if there is any objections to his doing so, he wanted to know. <br /> City Administrator Schnelle said he spoke to the landfill people, but evezy <br /> time he called the P.C.A., he ended up on the phone along time because of <br /> refez~als. <br /> <br /> Attorney Soucie said he had been ordered off the landfill by Mr. Otter, but <br /> he felt a public official ought to be able to walk on the landfill. He <br /> said not to invite Mr. Otter do do anything else. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gamec read his letter to the City of Anoka regarding the landfill. <br /> Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded byCouncilmanMickelson to fozward <br /> the letter from Mayor Gamec to the City of Anoka regaling the Ramsey Landfill <br /> to the City of Anoka. <br /> <br /> Motion ca~ried. Voting no-None. <br /> <br /> Resident Van Wagner said Ms. Ritchie told him she didn't know what the chemical <br /> was in the gas that was causing the odor and that the City of Ramsey would <br /> have to find that out. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said they a~e still experimenting. <br /> <br />Attorney Soucie said there is a series of additional health tests being done <br />~on the children from the residents around the Ramsey Landfill. <br /> <br />Mayor G~mec said he was looking at having monitoring on a regular basis. <br />Attorney Soucie said they all appreciated the tenacity with which the council <br />was tackling this problem. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said a class action suit could be instituted <br />because of this problem. <br /> <br /> C/October 28, 1980 <br /> Page 10 <br /> <br /> <br />
