Mayor Gamec said if anyone has any suggestions for projects for this
program, let City Administrator Schnelle know so the council can establish
priorities.
Councilman Cox said -there are things that can be done to develop the
Industrial Park and stimulate jobs.
la) Tungsten, Front Streets and Rivlyn Avenue Proposed Streeet and
Storm Drainage Improvement
Councilman Sorteberg said it appeared that the neighbors on Rivlyn Avenue
didn't want to spend any money.
Mayor Gamec said the biggest problem of working in that area is that
possibly in 1982 the sewer will be coming in and if the city puts in
the_streets there to standard now, it will have to tear them up again
in 1982. The city cannot even patch Tungsten any more. The main
thing is to get the water off Tungsten.
City Engineer Raatikka said it has to be graded so that it would all
drain
Councilman Cox said he was told the work done before would take care
of the problem, but it appears that it did not. He questioned if
there would be a way that the city could ditch the north end of Tungsten
Street to provide a place for the water to run off.
Mayor Gamec said the corner of Rivlyn Avenue and Tungsten Street
filled up 6 to 8" deep.
City Engineer Raatikka said the main sewer trunk would not come through
Tungsten Street.
Councilman Cox asked if there would be no problem then to upgrading
Tungsten Street with the assurance of not having to tear up Tungsten Street.
City Engineer Raatikka said part of Tungsten would have to be tore up.
Tungsten Street could possibly be overlayed and it would last a couple
years.
Councilman Cox said the council is not in a position to say go ahead and
do it because they do not know for sure about sewer & water coming in.
It doesn't make much sense to tear up a street to serve an outlet.
The council would have to look at who would be assessed: the property
owners who abut there or the whole project. To say the city could
assess them and say that it would be a benefit to the area would be
hard to do because of the facts that are known now.
Mayor Gamec recommended City Engineer Raatikka and the Street Superintendent
look at the possibility of ditch work and putting in some type of surface
to cover holes, etc.
Councilman Cox said if something is going to be done, it should be done soon.
C /September 23, 1980
Page 4
