•
•
a) That Mr. Morton indicate the North driveway as the entrance
and exit and show on the Site Plan where parking and turnaround
would be.
b) That he limit his sales to trees, plants and shrubbery.
c) That he bring in a scale sketch plan.
Motion carried 5 -0.
4. Discussion of Uses in Commercial Areas
Ben Deemer said it had come to his attention that the City Council was
going to allow an upgraded use in an industrial zone, namely a grocery
store called Ralph's Country Meats. He felt that in view of the recent
request to zone it "industrial ", it should be rezoned "business" or
Ralph's Country Meats should be required to build in a B -1 zone. He
said his basic cbjection is the recent rezoning.
Harry Ellis said he didn't want any commercial north of the railroad
tracks because cars would have to come across the tracks to get to it.
There was much discussion in this matter.
It was the consensus of the commission that B -1 activity should not take
place in an industrial zone and the parcel should be rezoned or the
business should not take place there.
5.
Proposed Ordinance Change
After a short discussion, it was the consensus of the commission to table
this issue until next meeting to get a copy of the ordinance for review.
6. Budget Review
Chairman Peterson informed the commission that he would be going before
the Budget Committee and he asked for their feelings on his asking for
$20.00 per meeting for the commission members, and $25.00 per meeting for
the Chairman of the P & Z Commission.
It was the consensus of the commission to authorize Chairman Peterson
to ask for $20.00 /meeting for commission members and $25.00 /meeting for the
Commission Chairman at the Budget Committee Meeting.
City Administrator Schnelle said he had intentions of asking for additional
staff for planning and zoning duties because there has to be better
documentation. He said he was going to tell the budget committee what
is needed and let them decide on it.
The motion made at the last commission meeting on hiring a
person was noted. It stated that the commission recommended to
the City Council that they consider hiring a full -time professional -type
person to take care of the city's needs in the Planning & Zoning area.
• P & Z Regular Meeting Page 6 10/7 /80
