Alpine Drive until Thursday evening. There will be signage placed directing
drivers to Northfork.

Chairperson Elvig inquired about the status of the traffic lights at Sunwood Drive
and Highway 47. He explained there is only an eight second turnover for crossing
that gives preference to east/west travel.

Street Supervisor Reimer replied staffwill follow up on the traffic lights.

Chairperson Elvig inquired about the status of potential flashing lights in front of
Ramsey Elementary School. He noted he and Chief Way spoke with Doug Fisher
from the County, who indicated the County would endorse the lights, but they are
not included in the budget. He requested staff to look into the ability for the
flashing lights to be installed prior to the school year. He noted there was
discussion about there being a manual switch inside the school for special events.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied the County received a federal grant
for the flashing lights, and as far as he is aware it is still under specifications.

City Engineer Jankowski explained there was discussion that control of the signal
would be with the County, and there could possibly be an override for the school.

Chairperson Elvig directed staffto follow up on the status of the flashing lights
and the ability for an override on the County control for special events at the
school.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Chairperson Elvig, to close the regular
meeting of the Public Works Committee.

Motion carried.

The regular meeting of the Public Works Committee adjourned at 6:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Drafted by Carol Hamer
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.

Public Works Committee/July 19, 2005
Page 11 ofll
