Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Chairperson Elvig, to recommend to City <br />Council that the City provide soil to Jay and Cindy Pugh, 5518 144th Court, for regrading <br />of their back yard. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Assistant Public Works Director Olson indicated the City will need <br />to purchase good quality topsoil. Civil Engineer II Linton noted enough dirt xvill be <br />needed to fill the pit where the trees were removed. <br /> <br />Motion amended by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Chairperson Elvig, to <br />recommend to City Council that the City provide up to $1,000 of soil to Jay and Cindy <br />Pugh, 5518 144th Court, for regrading of their back yard. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Absent: CouncilmemberOlson. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Update on TH 47 Improvements Project Schedule and Business <br />Notification <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated construction for this project is scheduled to begin <br />within the next few weeks. This project extends from Highway 10 in Anoka to County <br />Road 81 in St. Francis. He reviewed that the elements of the project within Ramsey are as <br />follows: <br /> <br />· Construction of a 3Aths access median at TH 47 and 142nd Avenue (The current <br /> plans are not sufficiently detailed to show whether the existing crosswalk is being <br /> removed, as requested by the Council) <br />· Construction ora free right turn lane for eastbound CSAH 5 to southbound TH <br /> 47 <br />· Construction of a north bypass lane at 157th Avenue <br />· The removal of the "hump" south of 160th Avenue <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski advised staff has contacted Mn/DOT to request information on <br />the anticipated schedule for the project. It is anticipated that the project will begin <br />construction on August 1, 2005. The project has been segmented into three phases with <br />the completion of the first phase bet~veen TH 10 and CR 116 to be on or before August <br /> th ..... <br />13 . The entire project, except for the traffic signal modifications, needs to be completed <br />by September 3rd. The contractor has not yet submitted his construction schedule, but <br />this will be available at the time of the preconstruction conference, which is anticipated to <br />occur sometime during the week of July 18th. Advance warning of the construction is <br />usually provided along the construction route 7 to 14 days prior to the beginning of the <br />work. The public affairs office of Mn/DOT has indicated that because of the brief <br />duration of the project, their involvement will consist of news release to the area media <br />that access to local businesses will remain open throughout the project. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski noted that the Council has requested staff to anticipate a <br />notification plan for residents and businesses affected by the project.
