TA S K FOR CE BUS INESS

Case #1: Presentation of Waste Water Management

John Fcges of Ramsey Town Center LLC and Curtis Sparks of North American Wetland
Engineering (NAWE) were present to make an educational presentation about waste water
management.

A discussion ensued regarding cluster developments in rural areas; how they are a more
efficient use o[: land and infi'astructure; and that they can be designed for easy future commction
to municipal services when they are available.

There was also a discussion regarding new technology in on-site waste water treatment systems
and the 4 pretreatment alternatives now available: aerobic, single pass sand filter, recirculating
gravel filter, subsurface flow constructed wetland. Mr. Sparks reviewed the advantages and
disadvantages of all 4 alternatives.

Mr. Sparks then reviewed NAWE's approach to the planning of wastewater infrastructure
through a process known as decentralized waste water management. With deregulation, power
companies like Connexus are looking at managing communal septic systems as another way of
keeping customers; and likewise for private companies.

Case #2 Environmental Expo Planning

Park Commissioner Melody Shryock was present to coordinate the EPTF and Park Commission
representation at the May 3''`1 Environmental Expo. Melody noted that the Park Commission
plans to have copies of the City trail map, park and open space plan, and aerial photos available.

Mr. Max said that he would have a 'tree house of horrors' exhibit available that identifies some
of the things you should not do to trees. He also plans to have the Ramsey Tree Book published
and available in time For the expo.

Margaret Connolly suggested having gypsy moth traps on display. Another suggestion was a
list of alternatives to hazardous pesticides.

It was determined that Parks Supervisor Mark Boos should coordinate with the Expo personnel
to have the Park Commission and the EPTF booths located right next to each other.

Mr. McDilda was selected to make a booth identification placard for the EPTF. It was also
discussed that the following items or issues should be made known at the Expo: EPTF mission
statemcnl; recruitment of members; summary of draft tree preservation ordinance; public
hearing datte, time and place for the draft tree ordinance.

Margaret Connolly volunteered to bring an easel to the Expo.

Mr. Max and Cotuacilmelnber Strommen will be in charge of getting The Ramsey Tree Book
published in time For the expo.
