HF100 NINTH ENGROSSMENT REVISOR BD 1-10100-9 <br />137.1 (d) An eligible organization's grant application must also include: <br />137.2 (1) a description of the proposed technical assistance or navigation services, including <br />137.3 the types of farmers targeted for assistance; <br />137.4 (2) any evidence of the organization's past success in providing technical assistance or <br />137.5 navigation services to farmers, particularly farmers who live in areas where long-term <br />137.6 residents are eligible to be social equity applicants; <br />137.7 (3) an estimate of the cost of providing the technical assistance; <br />137.8 (4) the sources and amounts of any nonstate funds or in -kind contributions that will <br />137.9 supplement grant money, including any amounts that farmers will be charged to receive <br />137.10 assistance; and <br />137.11 (5) anv additional information reauested by the office. <br />137.12 (e) In awarding grants under this subdivision, the office shall give weight to applications <br />137.13 from organizations that demonstrate a history of successful technical assistance or navigation <br />137.14 services, particularly for farmers facing barriers to education or employment. The office <br />137.15 shall also give weight to applications where the proposed technical assistance will serve <br />137.16 areas where long-term residents are eligible to be social equity applicants. The office shall <br />137.17 fund technical assistance to farmers throughout the state. <br />137.18 Subd. 4. Loan financing grants. (a) The office shall establish a revolving loan account <br />137.19 to make loan financing grants under the CanGrow program. <br />137.20 (b) The office must award grants to nonprofit corporations through a competitive grant <br />137.21 process. When selecting grant recipients under this subdivision, the office must utilize the <br />137.22 expertise of an employee of the office who is experienced in agricultural business <br />137.23 development. <br />137.24 (c) To receive grant money, a nonprofit corporation must submit a written application <br />137.25 to the office using a form develobed by the office. <br />137.26 (d) In awarding grants under this subdivision, the office shall give weight to whether <br />137.27 the nonprofit corporation: <br />137.28 (1) has a board of directors that includes individuals experienced in agricultural business <br />137.29 development; <br />137.30 (2) has the technical skills to analyze projects; <br />137.31 (3) is familiar with other available public and private funding sources and economic <br />137.32 development programs; <br />Article 1 Sec. 70. 137 <br />
