Civil Engineer II Linton replied this would be difficult due to the large wetland area <br />City Administrator Norman indicated staff has worked with Greg Bauer regarding an east/west <br />connection continuing through Titterud Park all the way to Central Park. <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if input is received from the Fire and Police Departments in the <br />determination of the MSA extensions. <br />Public Works Director Kapler responded in the affirmative. He explained there is a development <br />review meeting held once per month that is attended by representatives from both departments. <br />City Engineer Jankowski advised it will be necessary for the City Council to pass a formal <br />resolution requesting system modifications prior to May 1, 2006 in order for any new additions <br />to be included in the next round of needs determination. <br />The consensus of the Committee was to direct staff to include this topic on the schedule of the <br />March Public Works Committee meeting, with staff to provide further information regarding the <br />following MSA street extensions: <br />• Extension through the area of the Boy Scout Camp to the City of Andover <br />• Extension of Sunwood Drive <br />• East/west connection from the Greg Bauer property to Central Park <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br />Discuss additional safety measures at intersection of Alpine Drive and Sunfish Lake <br />Boulevard <br />Public Works Director Kapler reported there was a fatal accident last week at the intersection of <br />Alpine Drive and Sunfish Lake Boulevard. He indicated on both the east and west bound sides <br />of Alpine Drive there is a double stop sign, as well as a Stop Ahead warning sign with reflection <br />all the way down the post.. Last year the County did aggressive right-of-way clearing on the east <br />side of Sunfish Lake Boulevard. For some reason there continues to be issues at this <br />intersection. Staff would like to have some brainstorming on further safety measures at this <br />intersection. Chairperson Elvig has suggested the Committee discuss the idea of an overhead <br />warning device. <br />After discussion of possible safety measures, the consensus of the Committee was to direct staff <br />to provide further information regarding costs and what is allowed on MSA streets for the <br />following safety measures at the intersection of Alpine Drive and Sunfish Lake Boulevard: <br />• Rumble strips <br />• Overhead warning device <br />• Solar powered lights on the stop sign <br />Discuss comments from the 2006 Street Maintenance Projects Public Hearing held on <br />January 24`h, 2006 <br />Public Works Committee / February 21, 2006 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
