Working through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety
and the Agricultural Extension Service, the Minnesota Department of
Education will provide grants to Minnesota communities for their bicycle
safety programs.

The Minnesota State Bicycle Safety Committee (SBSC) which functions as an
advisory body to state agencies involved in bicycle programming, will
review community bike program proposals and make funding recommendations
to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Based on the SBSC rec-
ommendations, FiDE will select the several community proposals which provide
the greatest effectiveness for the limited funding available.

Proposals for 1981 bicycle safety programs are now being solicited from
Minnesota communities.
