These data were used
to compute the initial Twelfth Period allocation amount provided on the
form, which will be reflected in your govern~nent's quarterly general
revenue sharing payments beginning January 8, 1981.

Data Improvement Profzram

This notice is to provide an opportunity for your government to verify
its general revenue sharing (GRS) data for Entitlement Period 12. Due to
the timing of the renewal of the GRS Program at the end of the extended
session of Congress, it was not possible to conduct the annual Data
Improvement Program of the Office of Revenue Sharing prior to the compu-
tation of the initial allocation of funds for Entitlement Period 12, as
has been the practice in previous, periods. However, all data revisions
resulting from this Data Improvement Program and from the ongoing review
procedures of the Bureau of the Census will be' incorporated into the
official Entitlement Period 12 Master File and will be used in determining
a government's final allocation for Entitlement Period 12 which will be
computed in June 1981. Adjustments which result from differences between
the initial and final allocation amounts will be reflected in payments
for Entitlement Period 13 which begin in January 1982.
The definitions of the data elements, and their effective dates,
are containe~ in the enclosed booklet. If you believe there are errors
in these data, considering these definitions and dates, please enter
your proposed corrections in the spaces provided on the enclosed form
and return it, together with supporting documentation (Census Bureau
certifications, audit reports, etc.,) to serve as a basis for review of
the data. Ail data correction proposals should be received by this
Office by March 2, 1981 to allow sufficient review time prior to the
final allocation of Entitlement Period 12 funds.
Upon receipt of each data correction proposal, the Office of
Revenue Sharing, the Bureau of the Census, and other appropriate agencies
will substantiate or correct the data and this Office will advise the
government making such proposal of the results of this review. As
provided for in the Amendments to the Revenue Sharing Act, the data for
Entitlement Period 12 is open to challenge until September 30, 1982, one
year after the end of the period.
