ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY

CEN'I-ER FOR DRIVER EDUCATION & SAFETY
St. Cloud, Minnesota 56301
(612) 255-4251

January 8, 1981

Your Honor:

Because of the alarming increase in motorcycle accidents and fatalities,
St. Cloud State University, in conjunction with the Minnesota Department
of Education, will be hosting a statewide motorcycle safety education
conference. The conference will be held in St. Cloud's Sunwood Inn on
April 2-3, 1981. It is designed to bring together officials from the local
and state level who deal with facets of motorcycling and traffic safety
control.

In order to help defray expenses, we are prepared to offer the conference
free of charge to two interested members of your community. Also, these
participants will be reimbursed $16.40 (half the double room rate) for
lodging expenses at the Sunwood Inn. Therefore, when sharing a room, the
participants will incur no expense. W~ do ask, however, that these attendees
not be from the same agency (i.e., two police officers, two motorcycle
teachers, etc.). Possibilities of attendees can be from any source interested
or related to motorcycle safety. Examples are:

Public School Educator or Administrator City Councilman
School Board Member Safety-minded Dealer
Safety Council Representative Area Driver Examiner
Reputable M/C Organization
Area H.P. Safety Officer

Please consider sending a representative from your organization to this
worthwhile conference. By bringing together various different areas of motor-
cycle safety and traffic safety, hopefully an understanding of the different
areas and issues can be realized.

If you are interested in this conference, please make reservations as soon
as possible. Funds and reimbursements will be distributed on a first come-
first served basis. Enclosed is information on the conference and a registra-
tion sheet.

Sincerely, ~ :
~' .

Ervtn R.
