Mayor Gamec conmented on the amount of time that is involved in working on <br />grants, Metro Council activities, State Aids, Industrial Development, etc. <br />that what he feels the City needs is a coordinator - someone that can go <br />out and work in these areas possibly with a title of Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Sorteberg and seconded by Councilman Reimann directing <br />Administrator Schnelle to &raw up a job description and advertise for an <br />Assistant Administrator. <br /> <br />CITY PERSONNELMATTERS (PROPOSED SALARY INCREASES FOR REGULAR EMPLOYEES, <br /> <br />PART Tllg ~PLOYEES AND HEALTH INSURANCE INCREASE: <br /> <br />Councilman Cox gave comparisons of the tax bases of other cities in the <br />area such as Ham Lake, Andover, Elk River, Anoka, etc. <br /> <br />Mayor gamec said that Ramsey ranks in the bottom l0 as far as expenditures <br />are concerned according to a State audit. <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle gave the average salaries for some Anoka County em- <br />ployees and submitted his 1981 salary recommendations. <br /> <br />Councilperson Sorteberg and Mickelson proposed 8% cost of living increase; <br />Councilperson Cox proposed 7% cost of living .increase; Councilperson Reimann <br />proposed a 6% cost of living increase; ~ayor Gamec proposed a 9% cost of <br />living increase. <br /> <br />~otion by Mayor Gamec to adopt the proposed salary recommendations made by <br />Administrator Schnelle. Councilman Cox objected to the procedure of the <br />motion. <br /> <br />Officer Dave Gustafson of the Police Department commented on the Stanton <br />Report as it relates to the Police Department. He said that unless the <br />Police Department receives at least a 10% cost of living increase, they would <br />be going backwards in their progress. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilperson Sorteberg and seconded by Councilperson~tickelson <br />that there be an across the board cost of living increase of 8%. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes MayorGamec, Councilpersons Sorteberg, Mickelson, <br />Reimann and Cox. Voting no None. <br /> <br />Council reviewed the proposed salary ~djustments as were presented to the <br />Council in their agenda by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to set the follow- <br />lng salary adjustments for those positions as recommended by the City Admini- <br />strator: <br /> <br />Clerical IV - 10% salary adjustment <br />Accountant - 10% salary adjustment <br />Building Inspector - 2% salary adjustment <br />Chief of Police - 2% salary adjustment <br />Public Works Superintendent - 2% salary adjustment <br /> <br />C/December 29, 1980 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
