Eklund, Commissioner of Minnesota Dept of Economic Develop- <br />ment and other information regarding Minnesota Star City Program. <br />Council may want to refer this to the Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />CASE #8: <br /> <br />AIRPORT MEETING of MARCH 6, 1981.L <br />The following persons were present for the Airport meeting on March 6, <br />1981 which was held at 2:00 P.M. in the Ramsey Municipal Center. The <br />following persons sttended this meeting. <br /> <br /> Cotuncilmember Cox <br /> Councilmember Van Wagner <br /> MAC Staff member Nigel Finney <br /> City Engineer Pete Raatikka <br /> Economic Development Committee member Don Greenberg <br /> City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />Mr. Nigel Finney, of the MetrO Airport Commission Staff, explained to <br />the above Ramsey people the function of the MAC in regards to new Airport <br />development. He stated the Ramsey Airport was not shown in the MetrO- <br />politan Guide Plan. He explained that Ramsey should he working with the <br />MetrO Council on this issue as the MetrO Airport Commission didn't have <br />the authority to get involved in new airport development. <br />He farther stated due to Cut backs in finance and due to lessening demands <br />on MetrO Airports, to use the Commission would be hard pressed to push <br />for any new airport development. <br /> It was pointed out to Mr. Finney thatif the Metro Airport Commission is <br /> planning on new Airport Development, that now is the time to acquire the <br /> necessary land. He stated they were cognizant of this fact but due to <br /> their federal subsidies being phased out, they couldn't get involved. <br /> He did state if the City wants to pursue this airport, we should be work- <br /> ing with the MetrO Council and the Federal Aviation Authority. Consequently <br /> it appears Ramsey's first order is to start working with Mr. Charlie Weaver <br /> of the MetrO Council. Secondly, Mr. Don Stockdale of the Federal Aviation <br /> Authority. <br /> Councilman Cox will probably want to elaborate mere on this case. <br /> <br /> <br />
