Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution ~nd moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #81-10 RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE A DISCRIMINATION SUIT AGAINST THE STATE OF MINNESOTA IN REGARDS TO THE STATE 1AW THAT ESTABLISHES THE FORIfJLAFOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF STATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AID FUNDS TO CITIES WHEREAS, the City Council, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, State of Minnesota has appealed to the State of Minnesota to have the State law that establishes the distribution of State local government aid funds to cities amended to eliminate the gross inequities in the distri- bution of the funds; and V~IEREAS, the State of liinnesota took legislative action that created distrimination against the City of Rmmsey in the distribution of State local government aid funds to cities. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RA~SEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: l) The City Council hereby directs its City Attorney, William Goodrich, to start preparing a discrimination suit against the State of liinnesota law that establishes the formula for the distribution of local government aid to cities. 2) The City Council further authorizes the City Attorney to obtain additional legal expertise in constitutional law should he deem it necessary in proceeding with directive. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg and upon vote being taken thereon, the follow- lng voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Van Wagner, Reimann and Cox and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared doly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 10th day of ~rch, 1981.
