DNRWETLANDSM~P OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY REVISED:
Background Information: Mr. Bob Hutchinson from Anoka County presented to discuSS
the re-mapping and designation of Ramsey public waters and wetlands.
Mr. Hutchinson came before the council and stated this program was a state project,
the re-mapping would be done by the letter of the law, that no evaluation had been
made as to a good or bad law, it would have minimum changes which can be supported
and the standards used would be the same throughout the county. He had three
recommendations for the standards: 1. individual community maps would be used
using 1-1000 scale for the most part, 2. road right-of-waYS would be deleted
from the designation area, 3. minimum correction to be made and indicated on
a chart presented to the Council at the meeting proposed changes.
Mayor Gamec asked the citizens at themeeting to notify Mr. Hutchinson of their
opinions and comments re the DNRWetlands.
Citizens Paul and Erika Sitz, 6521 154th Lane inquired further as to the right-of
way deletion from the designated area.
Donald J. Mr. Thlmsen stated this property was originally intended
for a research campus, however it is no longer being considered for this use.
General Mills would like a more detailed survey and defining of the wetland
l~its on their property and would like to make proposals for the DNRWetlands
revision. He stated once the area is defined as a type 3, 4 or 5 it would be
difficult to change and rules out potential for future development. The
General Mills surveyor and proposal would take until May 1 and asked the
Council for its support.
Mayor Gamec stated the Council would like to cooperate if possible, however,
General Mills should keep in contact with Mr. Hutchinson from Anoka County.
C/March 10, 1981
5
