Fire Chief Kohner stated that he did not anticipate any increases to that cost during the duration
of the agreement.
Nadine Heinrich asked if Nowthen wanted a specific date attached related to invoicing.
Dan Breyen stated that the Nowthen Council only meets once per month. He noted that
payment of the invoice would depend upon whether the invoice is received prior to the Council
meeting. He explained that if received after the Council has met for the month, the invoice
would simply be paid at the next month's Council meeting.
Fire Chief Kohner continued to review the amendments that had been made following the
previous discussion.
The group confirmed consensus with the language "adjusted based on the per firefighter rate of
Ramsey and the increase must occur prior to September 1st to be effective for the next year".
Mr. Piton asked if there was clarification received for Item K.
Fire Chief Kohner stated that he did not receive that clarification as of yet but could forward the
Finance Director's response to Mr. Piton.
Ms. Heinrich asked if December 31, 2020 would be the one-year mark and whether there would
be better language to use.
Ms. Musgrove asked if the 120-day notice should be included to allow sufficient time for
paperwork and transition.
Mr. Pilon commented that he was unsure that period would add value.
Kurt Ulrich stated that it would be nice to have 30 to 60 days to ensure the proper paperwork
could be completed.
The group confirmed consensus with a 60-day notice and removing the language written in blue
from that paragraph.
Fire Chief Kohner clarified that the paragraph states that Nowthen will let Ramsey know that
they are going to retain or attempt to retain staff.
Mr. Ulrich asked if there is a required notice for termination. He stated that if Nowthen is ready
to go on its own, it would provide some type of notice and asked where that language is within
the document.
Ramsey Fire Board / June 24, 2020
