COUNTY OF ANOKA
COMMUNITY HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
FOURTH FLOOR
COURTHOUSE ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303 612-421-4760
Ext. 1390

3uly 11, 198~

Mr. Lloyd Schnelle
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW
Anoka, MN 55303

Dear Mr. Schnelle:

Reference is made to your correspondence of 3une 29, 19gt~, concerning the
testing of several residential wells for landfill contamination.

We have reviewed the groundwater monitoring data available with the MPCA &
Bart Engineering Company to determine the need for such off site well water
testing. This review has not shown that there is any likelihood of off site
migration of leachate at this time, thus such residential testing is not reasonably
necessary.

We have, however, asked that Waste Management expand the monitoring
program (additional well and parameters) in order to more adequately review this
matter. When this new data becomes available, we will again review the status
of the leachate migration and whether or not there is any need to undertake a
program of residential water supply testing.

If such residential water supply testing were undertaken, the selection of wells
to be tested would be based on the ground water hydrology, leachate plume data
and well construction information.

As soon as we obtain the new monitoring dat~ we will forward it to you.

Sin)t~.[ely, ! .t I .,4~/ ff,

Robert M.
