COUNTY OF ANOK
Office of the County Board of Commissioners
COURTHOUSE ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303 421 -4760
April 14, 1981
Mr. Lloyd Schnelle
Administrator, City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.
Anoka, Minnesota 55303
• Dear Mr. Schnelle:
' 5 it 1'-
A Pi 7 198,
'- rrc17
I am writing to extend a personal invitation to you for a public informational
meeting which is scheduled to be held at the Bunker Hills Activity
Center at 7:00 P.M. on the evening of Wednesday, April 29, 1981. The
purpose of this meeting will be to review recommendations relative to
the location of new landfills here in Anoka County.
The County Board of Commissioners is in the process of responding to the
1980 Solid Waste Act passed and signed into law by the Minnesota State
Legislature in May, 1980. This mandatory act provides that Anoka County
must develop an inventory list of possible new landfill sites and submit
this list to the Metropolitan Council by June of 1981.
The public informational meeting on April 29th will be for the purpose
• of reviewing a list of 16 possible landfill sites developed by the
engineering consulting firm of Henningson, Durham and Richardson and
presented to the Environmental Services Committee at their most recent
meeting. The task of the County Board during the month of May will be
to refine this list from 16 to 7 and submit it to the Metropolitan
Council.
Again, I strongly urge your attendance and input into this process and
ask for your advice and counsel as the County proceeds to satisfy the
mandatory requirements of State law.for new landfill sites.
With personal regards, I am,
Sincerely,
Edward F. Fields
Vice - Chairman, Anoka County
Board of Commissioners
EFF:cg
IN
