r
0
•
An inventory of conditions of Ramsey's thoroughfares is as
follows:
1) The existing road network consists basically of County
and State highways.
2) Problems with the present road system include:
a) There are only three east -west roads in Ramsey -
Highway 10, County Road 63 (Green Valley Road),
and Industry Avenue. County Road 63 functions
as an east -west collector, however, it's current
alignment is not straight and it lacks continuity.
b) TH 47 through Anoka has limited potential to
carry additional traffic because of right -of -way
constraints and dangerous "S" shaped curve by the
railroad.
c) There is a lack of service drives along TH 10.
d) There are no controlled intersections where the
local collectors intersect with TH 10, although
both County Road 56 and 57 intersections are
scheduled for signalization in 1981.
e) There is presently a lack of any collectors south
of TH 10.
f) Existing development and environmental constraints
limit options available for providing for new
collectors.
g) As a result of uncontrolled access to TH 10, there
have been several fatalities.
3) Until 1975 the City did not require that the streets which
are part of a subdivision be improved with bituminous or
concrete. All subdivisions in the City now require street
improvements.
4) Some City streets within subdivisions have been improved
with a bituminous surface. Except for some MSA streets,
improvements are all on a petition basis.
5) Ramsey has a Municipal State Aid (MSA) system with $730,000
of improvements programmed for 1979 -1983. Some of these
improvements include:
a) Variolite Street from 161st to County Road 63 -
dirt and base work, plus asphalt surfacing.
b) 153rd Avenue N.W. C.S.A.H. #S to TH 47 - shaping
and asphalt surfacing.
66
