Planning Commission in November 2011, for the seats that were set to expire on March 31, <br />2012. The vacancies were advertised in the Ramsey Resident, The Anoka County Union, the <br />City's website, QCTV, the January utility billing statements, and the City's email notification <br />system. On March 6, the City Council conducted 17 interviews to fill eight vacancies. <br />Following are the recommendations: <br />• Economic Development Authority — Wayne Skaff <br />• Environmental Policy Board — Robert Bentz, Michael Hiatt, Larry Lewis, Tom Stodola, <br />and Michael Valentine <br />• Park and Recreation Commission — Richard Chubb <br />• Planning Commission — Rob Schiller <br />She noted these are four year terms except for the EDA which is six years. Ms. Lasher added <br />that she contacted the people who were not chosen to let them know about opportunities to <br />volunteer for the Happy Days Committee and the Ramsey Foundation. <br />Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Councilmember Strommen to recommend <br />City Council adopt the resolution appointing the board and commission members listed above. <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Strommen commented that it was really an incredible group <br />of people and we were all pretty uniform on our appointment recommendations. She hoped the <br />people who were not selected this round will come back again. She reiterated it was really an <br />outstanding group of people and she was very impressed. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Tossey and Councilmembers McGlone and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. <br />Case #4: Consider a Resolution to Accept the Resignation of the Economic <br />Development/Marketing Manager and Direct Staff to Prepare a Plan to Address Job Duties <br />Left Vacant <br />Human Resources Representative Lasher stated that Mr. Aaron Backman, Economic <br />Development and Marketing Manager resigned effective March 6, 2012. He has been with the <br />City since November 2010 and also serves as staff liaison to the Economic Development <br />Authority He has accepted a position with the City of Windom as the Executive Director of the <br />EDA. His last day will be March 23. She noted his list of duties and job description are part of <br />the staff report. The funding of this position totals $98,394. <br />Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Councilmember Strommen to recommend <br />City Council adopt the resolution accepting Mr. Aaron Backman's resignation and directing staff <br />to prepare a plan to address the job duties left vacant by the resignation. <br />Further discussion: Chairperson Tossey inquired about the TIF funding percentage for this <br />position. City Administrator Ulrich stated that a certain percentage is allowable from each TIF <br />District for administrative fees. <br />Motion carried.
