5 Minutes <br /> <br />APPROVE (]tANGE o~ER NO. 1 TO <br />~U%TER IG~ER IMPRGVEMENT pROJECT S87-19 <br /> By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br />At a special meeting of the City Council on April 5, 1988 CBI Na-Con, Inc. was <br />awarded the project for a Type B water tower which has a cone t}~pe base. Since <br />the award we have reviewed the use of the cone shaped base .and asked CBI <br />!,~a-Con, I:~c. for a deduction fol' d~!eting the 10' x !0' ovcrhe~a garao, e door. <br /> Inc. stating they <br /> Lnclosed is a 1.-,er frcm Mr. Dan !~orth of CBI !{a-Con, <br /> deduct $20,150 for the overhead door and a reduction in t~e tank foundation <br /> diameter. The change would reduce the storage area by approximately 30% and <br /> the access to the storage would be limited to a standard man door. In <br /> addition, CBI Na-Con, Inc. would deduct $2,700 for changing the riser and <br /> overflcm pipes frcm ductile iron to welded steel. <br /> <br />Reco~nendation: <br />Public Works Superintendent Mevissen has reviewed the value of the storage and <br />the overhead door access and concurs that the $20,150 could be put toward a <br />better use on another project. <br />The }linnesota Health Department has asked that the riser pipe be changed from <br />ductile iron (DIP) to welded steel. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Approve Change Order No. 1 to delete the overhead door for a deduction of <br />$20,150 and change the riser pipe fr~n DIP to welded steel for a deduction <br />of $2,700 and authorize the City Administrator to sign the change order. <br /> <br />Raview Checklist: <br /> <br />Administrator <br />Attorney <br />Engineer X <br />Cor~nunity Develot~nent Director _ .. <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br />X <br /> <br /> <br />
