5 Minutes <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />CASE ~!9: <br /> <br />DIS(/3SS L~'I'I~ FRCM ANCEA (//31~ REGARDING U~ENDI~) <br />OOM~3NrAY D~ BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS <br /> By: Anne Norris, C~nity Development Director <br /> <br />Currently the City has unexpended, allocated CDBG funds of approximately <br />$60,000. The Council originally authorized the use of these funds for the <br />econc~ic development revolving loan fund. However, due to few loan requests <br />these funds have not yet ~en spent. <br /> <br />Anoka County has a policy re~arding CDBG funds stating the funds must be sper,'- <br />within 18 months of ~llocation. The City has currently received one extension <br />from the County for spending scme of its CDBG funds. <br />Recently the City Ad~.inistrator received a letter from Commissioner Margaret <br />Langfeld requesting comments on the County's policy regarding unexpended CDBG <br />funds. <br /> <br />Enclosed is a ~opy of this letter for your ira. formation. <br /> <br />Reco~endation: <br />Staff recommends that the City comment that the County allow communities with <br />unexpended CDBG funds to trade the funds with another community that has an <br />immediate need.
