Special Council Meeting <br />5:30 P.M. <br /> May 19, 1981 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Van Wagner <br />Councilmember Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Reimann <br />Councilmember Cox <br /> <br />~lso Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Sha, Consmlting Engineer <br />Mr. William Goodrich, City Attorney <br />Mr. Clayton R. Berg, Building Official <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the <br />current situation of the landfill as well as to advise the City Council <br />as to how the City should proceed with this matter. He further stated <br />the meeting would be conducted under regulations allowing for a closed <br />meeting based on attorney/client rights inasmuch as they would be dis- <br />cussing the lawsuit against the City of Anoka. <br /> <br />A discussion among Council members followed in regards to Councilmember <br />Van Wagner's involvement in landfill issues inasmuch as she currently <br />resides adjacent to the landfill. <br /> <br />The Council concensus was that she would probably have to determiue her- <br />self what she felt may constitute a conflict of interest. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced that the methane extraction flaring wottld take <br />place at 7:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 20, 1981. Council discussion on <br />this matter followed. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich explained to the City Council the current status <br />of the landfill issue. A lengthy discussion by the City Council followed. <br /> <br />Mr. Sha presented the City Council with a proposal.he felt they should <br />consider. Another lengthy discussion regarding his recommendation followed. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich asked the City Council for direction. It was their <br />concensus that he proceed as he had been previously directed and report <br />back to them at a special meeting which is set for 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, <br />May 26, 1981. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Lloyd G.
