REPORT ON FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR
BITUMINOUS STREET PAVING OF
157th LANE N.W., LYING EAST OF COUNTY ROAD NO.

56

SCOPE:
The purpose of this report is to discuss the feasibility of providing bituminous
surfacing on the above referenced street. This report also provides a cursory
review of the existing drainage system within the project area.

The project area lies within the S½ of Section 15, Township 32 North, Range 25
West, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota.

The project is generally bounded by County Ditch No. 66 and 3 on the North and
County Road No. 56 on the West as shown on Exhibit A.

EXISTING CONDITIONS:

The present street network consists of a rural street section with a gravel or
sand surface approximately 20 to 22 feet in width. An inspection of the area
revealed that the area drains into County Ditch No. 66 and 3. However, ditches
in the area are practically non-existent and a majority of the driveways do not
have culverts. The two low areas on the street appear to have culverts, however,
they are buried and will require extension or replacement.

PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS:
Since the present street does not have adequate ditches and drainage can be diverted
into County Ditch No. 66 and 3, it is our recommendation to construct a suburban
street. This would limit the disruption to the abutting property and provide posi-
tive drainage to the area. _

STREET IMPROVEMENT:

The existing streets are proposed to be widened and shaped to accommodate the
26 foot suburban street section as shown on Exhibit B. It is also proposed to
acquire an additional 33 feet of right of way on the West end of 157th Lane.
The street grades would be kept basically the same with only minor adjustments
to provide adequate drainage.

1
