MEETING C~'r.T.'~ TO ORDER FOR PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />RE: STO~ SEWER I~PRO~/~qENT PROJECT #81-8 <br /> 1-~AND DOLOMITE STREET N.W. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka reviewed the project and stated ponding <br />was a favorable solution to the drainage problem. Mayor Gamec <br />asked if there were any questions from the citizens. <br />Resident, Nike Cameron, 159th and Dolomite, stated the ponding <br />would not help him and would cause 75% more water on his property. <br />Resident, Pat Doroff, 16748 158th Lane, stated "I built on a hill <br />and now you want me to pay for water problems". Resident al~o <br />asked what the dry well cost could be. City Engineer Raatikka <br />stated approximately $!,000 to $1,200. <br /> Resident, TomCollins, 158th Lane, stated on the present restoration <br /> we have weeds and no grass. Mayor Gamec told him to contact the <br /> City Engineer so he can check it out. The City has not made final <br /> approval of that project. Cottucilman Cox stated deficiencies in <br /> previous project are causing this issue problem. We should see the <br /> project is completed properly. <br /> Resident Marie Pierce asked if they got another engineer to prove the <br /> road isn't right, would they have to pay the engineer cost. Nayor <br /> Gamec replied yes. <br /> Resident Nike Cameron asked is there a law stating if you give me <br /> more water then I have I will be compensated for it. Mayor Gamec <br /> stated I think so. <br /> Dorothy Smith from Westphal Construction comented she thinks there <br /> is a better w~y to solve this problem. Mayor Gamec suggested <br /> the Council and Engineer should consider dry wells. The City <br /> would hold another public hearing. City Engineerhad mentioned ~ <br /> dry wells are a possibility and best alternative. <br /> Resident Dennis Morawctznsky stated he takes about 20 times more <br /> water thsnhis neighbor and wanted to know how the Engineer determined <br /> the water would go on other side of the street. <br /> Resident Mrs. Cameron asked why does the City want to stay away from <br /> dry wells. Mayor'Gamec stated the City found soil conditions are <br /> not advisable in some areas. City Engineer Raatikka stated dry <br /> wells plug up with silt and there are some maintenance problem~. <br /> Dor0thy'Mmith stated the natural flow is to the other side of the <br /> street. <br /> Resident Steve Johnson asked why curb considered in the first place. <br /> City Engineer Raatikka stated it is the easiest type of street for <br /> this ~rea otherwise they wouldhave to put in ditches. <br /> <br />C/May 26, 1981 <br /> <br /> <br />
