PDM HYDROSTORAGE, INC. provides steel tanks for
customers in public and private water systems as well
as industrial installations. The lollowing pages will
describe the advantages and illustrate some of the
various designs available,

Choosing theTank Design

The following considerations are most important in the
selection of type of storage for your installation:
].. Capacity--In residential use or industrial fire protec-
tion service requirements generally specify elevated
storage tanks to stabilize water pressure or for a re-
serve supply. These tanks may range in size from
50,000 gallons to 3,000,000 gallons capacity.
Municipalities may require larger storage volume as
a reserve supply only. Storage tanks over 3,000,000
gallons are generally standpipes or reservoirs.
In all cases the tank capacity should be of sufficient

Cover
Large photo: Poinciana, FL 500.000 Gallon HydroPillar
Small photo, top: Piano, TX 1.500,000 Gallon ToroSpherical
Small photo, bottom: Lawrence, KS 1.500.000 Gallon Stand P~pe

volume to take care of the foreseeable future as well
as present needs.
2. Head Range--Head range or tank shell height sets
the range of pressure in the water system and has an
effect on operating costs in an efficient pumping Op-
eration. Quite naturally an elevated tank maintains a
more constant pressure whereas a standpipe or reser-
voir will produce a gradual reduction of pressure as
the volume is used.
3. Appearance--Water storage tanks usually are promi-
nent landmarks. Therefore care should be given Io
making them complementary with the surrounding
areas.
4. Cost--As in any project the customer's needs must
be within the guidelines of his financial capabilities.
Regardless of features required, PDM HYDROSTOR-
AGE, INC. can supply a wide range of capacities, sizes
and configurations in standard and special designs to
meet your specifications at an economical price.

Right: Springfield, IL 1.000.000 Gallo~ Pedestal Sphero,d

Iowa City.
