10 Minutes CASE %9: <br /> <br /> STA_~JS(~F PRC~OS~I) WA/~T~WER <br />By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />We are currently working on the plans and specifications for the proposed water <br />tower to be located west at the intersection of C.S.A.H. No. 5 and T.H. No. 47 <br />(Law property). <br /> <br />Due to delays in acquiring the right-of-way or obtaining right of entry, we <br />have decided to prepare the plans and take bids with an assumed soil bearing <br />capacity for footing design. At the time of construction or upon the right to <br />enter the property, we will verify the soil bearing capacity and adjust the <br />footing design if required. <br /> <br />We are proposing to finalize plans by March 8, 1988 and sukmit them to the City <br />Council for approval and setting a bid date for early April. It was <br />anticipated that construction could begin by early July with completion in <br />September. However, we have been informed by tank manufacturers that there is <br />a sheet steel shortage which could delay the construction of the tower by two <br />months. If this occurs, painting may not be completed until the spring of <br />1989. <br /> <br />Prior to finalizing the plan, we would like to have a Council consensus on what <br />type of tower to bid and what lettering and/or logo should be painted on the <br />tower. <br /> <br />Enclosed for your review are copies of various types of water towers. <br /> <br />P~c~mndation: <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: '~' <br />Direct the City Engineer to finalize water tower plans for bidding a <br /> type and a type water tower with lettering and with/ <br />without City logo. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />Administrator <br />Attorney <br />Engineer <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br /> <br />
