MEMO <br /> <br />Case # 5 <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />May 5, 2006 <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br /> <br />Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />Staff Update <br /> <br />New Business Prospects: <br /> <br />Cullinan Rigging - Currently working with them on a 30,000 SF project that would be <br />locate in Gateway North Industrial Park No. 5. Recently, questions concerning the <br />timing of the construction of McKinley and Ebony Streets has factored into the <br />development of this lot. The engineering department is conducting a study to determine <br />the costs of constructing McKinley Street. <br /> <br />Manufacturer - This company is currently located in the Western Suburbs is looking to <br />relocate to the Ramsey Area. This business utilizes state of the art technology that uses <br />water to cut metals and plastics. They are looking to build between 15-20,000 SF <br />between now and next summer. Staff met with the owners of this business on the 27th of <br />April and reviewed the company's business plan. <br /> <br />Large Manufacturer - This company is looking to locate to the northern suburbs. They <br />require 20 acres and are looking to build between 150-200,000 SF initially with the <br />ability to expand to 400,000. They currently employ 200 workers and are very excited at <br />the possibility to move in next to the Sanitary landfill. Staff will work with the MPCA to <br />try to acquire the land necessary <br /> <br />Nordvik Industries - Staff meet with the owners of Nordvik Industries regarding the <br />possible relocation of the business to another location in Ramsey. Preliminary talks went <br />well and staff is hopeful that a deal can be struck to have them build 20-30,000 SF of <br />manufacturing space in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Business Grand Openings:. None <br /> <br />Business Communication Initiatives: The Ramsey Business Appreciation Day will be held on <br />August 15th at The Links at Northfork. The Golf will be limited to the first 36 teams that sign <br />up. The Links at Northfork has added on to its clubhouse which will now be able to better <br />accommodate the crowd this event generates. Staff will be creating a committee to help identify <br />how we could make the event better.
