#23: <br /> <br />PJ~/3~4EhI~TIONFROMLAbDFILLCOM}YISSION <br />RMGARDINGCU~BSIDERMCYC~INGPROGRAM <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At its meeting on May 19, 1988, the Landfill Commission <br />recommended that the City pursue a curbside recycling program in <br />the River's Bend and Flintwood Hills developments. In addition, <br />the Commission recommended that the City contract with Waste <br />Management of Minnesota - Blaine to manage a pilot curbside <br />recycling progr~nintheproject area for one year. <br /> <br />The project area of River's Bend and Flintwood Hills PUD includes <br />a minimumof the existing 178 homes and a maximin of 300 homes. <br /> <br />The Commission recommended that the City purchase bins at $4.95 <br />each from Waste Management; these bins will be provided to each <br />home in the project area for collecting recyclable materials. <br />Waste Management would pick up materials from the homes in the <br />project area twice each month for a cost of $1.01 per month per <br />home. The Commission also recommended that the City pay the <br />monthly pick upcost for the pilotprogram. <br /> <br />The estimated cost for the City to find the pilot program is <br />approximately $4,500.00.
