I
 Hakanson SECTION 2
In Anderson PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
pavement Indicators
During our field reconnaissance, we will specifically review areas in which the pavement is more severely deteriorated as
compared to the remainder of the pavement surface. Severe pavement deterioration is often a sign of weak subgrade
or poor drainage. These areas will be identified early in the process such that soil borings can be obtained with the
geotechnical phase. The results of the soil borings will be reviewed to determine if subgrade corrections or drainage
improvements are necessary.
Traffic Control and Stagilrp
Appropriate traffic control and staging plans will be developed to ensure that property access is maintained at all times.
Further, appropriate milestones must be included in the Project Manual such that the Contractor is not allowed to
"open up" all of the project areas at one time. The Contractor will be required to submit a bar chart schedule prior
to commencing any work, which will be reviewed by Hakanson Anderson and City staff to ensure that an orderly
progression of the work is proposed. Simply put, the Contractor must finish work in one project are before opening up
another project area.
Construction Services
Upon request of the City, we will provide construction services as needed. We will be available to respond to questions
from City staff and/or the Contractor and to assist in interpreting the Construction Documents.
We may also provide construction observation and construction staking services throughout the construction phase of
the project if requested by the City, subject to staff availability. Construction staking may consist of: staking right-
of-way, staking centerline offsets, blue -topping, staking pedestrian curb ramps, and staking drainage improvements.
Construction period services are not included in the base services as outlined in this proposal. If the City would like HAI
to provide construction period services, we request to be notified in November/December of 2023 such that we can
schedule our staff resources accordingly.
As -Built Survey / Record Drawin6_
Upon request of the City, all newly installed structures or culverts will be surveyed and the record drawings will be
prepared. Construction notes from City construction observation staff will be received and any variations for the original
proposed construction plans will be documented.
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING 5
