1 <br />2 333 Ground source heat pump systems/Geothermal Systems <br />3 In all districts, ground source heat pump systems shall be permitted as an accessory use in accordance <br />4 with the standards in this section. <br />5 (A) System requirements. Only closed loop ground source heat pump systems utilizing heat transfer <br />6 fluids are permitted. Open loop ground source heat pump systems are not permitted. <br />7 (B) Setbacks. <br />8 (1) All components of ground source heat pump systems including pumps, borings, and loops <br />9 shall be set back at least five feet from any property boundary. <br />10 (2) Above ground equipment associated with the ground source heat pump system shall meet all <br />11 required accessory structure setbacks for the applicable zoning district. <br />12 (3) The loop field of a ground source heat pump system shall be no closer than five feet from the <br />13 water main line. <br />14 3) Easements. Ground sourcc heat pump systems shall not encroach on any publ+c—drainag <br />15 utility, roadway or trail casement. <br />16 (C) Abandonment. If the ground source heat pump system remains non-functional or inoperative for a <br />17 continuous period of one year, the system shall bc deemed to be abandoned and shall eonstitute-a <br />18 public nuisanec. The owner shall remove the abandoned system at their expense, after a demolition <br />19 p-ermit has been obtained, in accordance with applicable codes. <br />20 {5) P-crmits. A -permit() shall bc obtained for any ground sourcc het pump system in accordance <br />21 with Minnesota State Building Codc prief-to in�tallatie <br />22 <br />23 334 Exterior Solid Fuel -Fired Heating Devices <br />24 (A) Exterior solid fuel -fired heating devices shall be located at least 75 feet from any property line and <br />25 shall not be located in the front yard. <br />26 (B) The following materials shall not be used or burned in exterior solid fuel -fired heating devices: grass, <br />27 leaves, oils, rubber, plastics, tires, railroad ties, construction debris, and painted or chemically <br />28 treated materials such as treated lumber, composite shingles, tar paper, insulation composition <br />29 board, sheetrock, wiring, paint, and hazardous and industrial solid waste. <br />30 <br />31 335 Incinerators <br />32 Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this chapter, no burning of solid waste, hazardous waste, <br />33 medical waste, or special waste by use of an incinerator or hazardous waste incinerator shall be allowed <br />34 within the city either as a permitted use or conditional use. <br />35 <br />36 336 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations <br />37 (A) A property owner may install EV charging stations in a parking space in a parking lot or structure <br />38 available to the public for free or for a fee. <br />39 (B) Parking spaces used for EV charging may be signed as restricted for electric vehicles. <br />40 (C) Parking spaces used for EV charging will count towards the overall required number of spaces listed <br />41 elsewhere in this chapter. <br />42 <br />43 340 Personal Use Heliports <br />44 General rule. The use of any lot or outlot within the city for helicopter take -offs or landings, either <br />45 on a regular, temporary, or occasional basis, shall require a conditional an interim use permit <br />46 (permit). Said -permit shall bc processed and enforced in accordance with section 235. <br />47 (B) Exceptions. Operation of helicopters at unlicensed heliports shall be permitted under the following <br />48 circumstances: <br />49 (1) Emergency landings; <br />Page 42 of 160 <br />
