Case CONSIDF. R JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR PRELIMINARY DESIGN WORK ON TRUNK HJGHWA¥ 47 By: Brian E. Olson, Director of Public Works / Principal City Engineer Willia~n Goodrich, City Attorney Background: 'I'be City of Ramscy has beel~ workin§ with the MI~DOT, Anoka County a~d Bums Township for a nurnloer of years trying to find the solution to the traffic congestion on Trunk Highxvay 47. MuDOT has committed $200,000 to put towards the preliminary design and evaluation of alternatives l:or relieving this congestion. The attached agreement sets fbrth the rules to use these dollars ($200,000), requires a local match and it is anticipated that the local match portion (~$150,000) will come fi'om a combination o£ City of Ramsey ($22,500), City of Anoka ($22,500), Burns Township ($2,500) and Anoka County ($102,500) participation. The City of Ramsey is goJl~g to be receiving greater than $22,500 fi-om the federal goverm:nent with the TH 47 project closeout and Staff is anticipating this money to pay for this work. There is als() a Memorandmn of Ui:derstanding (MOU) bet~veen the agencies that Staff is requesting approval lbr which formalizes the direction regarding the need for future improvcmems to the Trunk Highway 47 co~Tidor. This MOU is a non-binding a~eemen/that does not have any costs associated but outlines the intentions of the agencies.
